Timothy Berger
Timothy Berger was disabled and unemployed. He lived in constant joint pain and struggled to walk. He didn't have much and relied on Meals on Wheels, welfare, and discounted medical clinics to survive. He didn't have a car, and so he walked everywhere. He enjoyed sitting on his porch during the day and evenings, and it was often that he left his windows open during the night. Berger intermittantly used bug spray, so he was often bit by blood-feeding insects. Because he was in chronic pain, he was not aware that he was sick until his muscle aches increased and he began to feel vertigo. On September 4, 2014 a neighbor found Berger on his porch, unable to get up, and took him to the hospital. Later that day, Berger slipped into a coma and summcumbed to infection. The doctor estimated that Berger began showing symptoms August 31, 2014.
