Darth Vadar Has Conquered More Civilians

October 24, 2014

-Suspected Darth Vader, human, Deming, New Mexico

         - Known patient Information

                    -59-year-old male

                    -non-healthcare worker,

                    -currently admitted to ICU

                    -no history of pre-existing conditions

                    -no history of animal exposure

-no history of contact with suspected or confirmed case in hospital/clinic

-no history of contact with suspected or confirmed case in the community

How did he get it if no prior contact to the reservoir or vector? Is there more than one vector? Kissing bugs are more active at night, so maybe he didn't realize he was exposed to the vector. A test needs to be run to confirm the pathogen in this patient.

-Escherichia father infection, human, El Paso, Texas

        - 269 humans reported to be infected with Darth Vader in Texas

-Samples have been identified via genome analysis and antibody testing

-All infected patients were admitted to the hospital, and all but one has died.

There is a giant increase in those affected, with an incredibly high mortality rate. Hospital treatment is not effective

-Darth Vader in humans in Hatch, New Mexico

-Hatch, NM has reported 98 fatal cases of human infection with Escherichia father, Darth Vader.

-all 98 patients were admitted to area hospitals where they passed away within a week.

-all patients were treated in isolation

***Doctors in the area stated that handling cases of Darth Vader is very difficult and time-consuming. Because the disease is so deadly, Darth Vader patients respond to medical treatment poorly and there are no reported survivors. Due to the nature of their symptoms and the novelty of the disease, admission to a hospital is often delayed and death is inevitable.

Taking into account the information above, it was decided that our initial plan for prevention would be most effective if it were not focused on the pathogen in the human body. This is primarily due to two reasons:

          (1) We felt it would be wrong to wait until a person was infected,to try to stop the disease. There are options that could prevent a person from even contracting  Darth Vadar, so why not lesson the amount of people infected before trying to treat all of those infected with Darth Vadar. Essentially, the scope of those affected by Darth Vadar would be lessoned if less people contracted the disease

          (2) Even if a drug or a treatment were developed to fight Darth Vadar, it would not be 100% effective. The mortality rate would hopefully lesson, but it would still exist. Decreasing human exposure to the pathogen, would decrease the amount of those suffering from Darth Vadar. With about a 100% mortality rate, it's probably best to try to prevent exposure. Who knows how long it may take to develop medical treatment for such an ailment?
