From the data collected above, it has been inferred that Sebastian Doyle is patient zero. He was the first to exhibit symptoms, as was he the first to die. It wasn’t until 6 days after Doyle’s death that the next patient, Tiffany Faulkner begins to show symptoms. It is quite difficult to assess when Doyle contracted the disease, for he had not been in fantastic health for several months prior to his death, but the pattern of deaths indicates that he was infected while in Brazil, a few days before departure. The vector probably bit him, while he was out hiking, or while he was sleeping, and then after several days while the pathogen amplified in his body, a vector of the same species bit him and proceeded to bite Faulkner and Meadows, who were sleeping in the same open dorm, under bed nets with holes. There were supposed to have been pesticide use, but Meadows, having seen the ill-effects of the substances on her grandparents had refrained from using it daily as directed, and had only sprayed once a month. When they returned to New Mexico, Meadows began doing research at the Ciabola National Forest, where Jacobson hikes, and Faulkner went on morning hikes at Hobbies Mountain Ranch, where Albert is a ranger. A vector in the forest probably bit Faulkner while on a hike, and that vector either continued on to bite Albert or the pathogen was transmitted either vertically or horizontally until another infected vector bit Albert while he was in the forest performing trail maintenance. A similar situation probably happened between Meadows and Jacobson.

Frederick was a bean farmer. Shepard would leave in the mornings to buy produce from nearby farmers for her restaurant. It is possible that a vector at Frederick’s farm, that carried the pathogen, bit Shepard, infecting her.
