Owner of Cote Pool Cleaning Services
Gabriel Cote
Born into a family of great health Gabriel became victim of the same pathogen currently emerging among other patients. He was owner and sole employee of Cote Pool Cleaning Services in Bernalillo, New Mexico. He spent most of his week going to different homes cleaning theirs pools, it is suspected that he came in contact with the vector that acquired the agent from our suspected patient zero. During his leisure he relaxed by the river alone. His typical scheduled started around 8 a.m. Gabriel would add the chemicals into the pool and lounged by waiting for them to work seeing about 11-12 clients a day in which he was constantly annoyed by insects and animals, bitten and stung at a regular basis. Gabriel often came in contact with wasps, mosquitoes, and ticks which often bit his face. It was not until August 31st that he began feeling ill while on the job, signs of fever and dizziness, and decided to visit a clinic. It appeared he suffered from a heat stroke, which was unusual due to the cooler than normal weather. He was sent to the hospital and treated to bring his body temperature down but did not respond to treatments. Blood tests indicated the presence of an unknown agent; IV antibiotic and antivirals along with steroids and fluids but his condition only worsened. Gabriel Succumbed to the infection on September 6th, 2014.
It is around this area that Mr. Cote performed his domestic services as a pool cleaner. Similar to the other patients, it is close to where our suspected patient zero lost his life to the infection and very possible that the arthropod vectoring the disease has extended its geographical range to infect Mr. Cote.
